All week we have been planning our big Saturday event: Le Garage Sale, the twice a year sale event of the area boutiques. This takes place in the Palmer Center, the equivalent of our Rapid City Civic Center. After scouting out the free parking (no luck), we parked with most everyone else in the parking garage ($7). Then it was a short walk into the Palmer where the line of women waiting to get in stretched. . .around many corners. Once the doors opened, though, we moved quickly inside to where clothing, shoes, and accessories were stacked into squares of selling booths. It is customary to wear black leggings and a black top so you can try on clothes over your own clothes in booths that do not have dressing areas. Some booths had bargain prices; others had marked items down from the $300 range to the $100 range. Take a gander at the "markdown" on the shoes!
By far the best part of the sale was the bar against the back wall. Well, by the time we reached it, it was 11:45 A.M. so of course when I ordered my Bloody Mary and she asked if she could make it a double, I concurred! Nothing like shopping with a little buzz. . .
Laura and I were each other's fashion consultant. We really got off quite lightly--I spent less on my one item of clothing than on my drink (note the singular there). It was a totally fun experience! Maybe I will have to come back for the fall sale.
