Year's End

Katie, our vivacious hostess, welcomed family, neighbors, friends and children into her lovely new home to celebrate the arrival of the new year. The children have their own space in the garage and the media room next to the garage (with a large screen 3D tv!). We didn't quite make it past 9:00 but are there in spirit. I'm sure the young ones are still going strong while I lie in bed blogging. Such is life! Happy New Year, everyone!!

Day at the Museum

IMAX was showing "Flying Monsters" so how could we resist? While Ken and Campbell golfed with a friend, we took Quinn to the museum. Last night Sharon, Juan, and their son Max came over for dinner. Another night of games!
Today we woke up to a gentle snowfall. The end of the year approaches.

Party and Other Animals

Another night, another party. The children have been taking full advantage of the hot tub. Lauren, the adorable girl in these photos (belongs to Katie but she likes to call me "Grandma"), came running in and alerted me to take photos of the hot tub antics. Our parties have included multi-generational games of WWF, Smart A**, Bezzerwizzer, and now the current favorite, Othello.
Tonight? New Year's Eve? Party at Katie's!!

Party Place

Catherine specifically said in her directions, "Enjoy the house! Have a party!" So last night we did. Katie and children Nate and Lauren, Nancy (another of Laura's gorgeous Corrales friends) and her children Jade and India, Ken's brother Tim and his children Carter and Lexi came over for chicken tortilla soup, munchies, tamales, beer and wine. In case you didn't notice, the children almost outnumbered the adults and they certainly gave life to the party! Campbell and India used to take classes together that Nancy taught. They had kept in touch via modern technology but hadn't seen each other for several years. Look at them! They are teenagers now and still so darn cute. Ok, Grandma talking here.

We are planning the next party. . .

Metal Detecting

Quinn and his friend Lauren have been searching for treasure but no luck yet. Quinn detects, Lauren digs. So far, just some rusty nails and rebar. They even went to the old Corrales dump today. Tomorrow, tomorrow. . .

A Night at Katie's

Laura's close friend Katie invited us over to see her new house and to have dinner. Her dog Sunny had developed a fear of walking on smooth tile floors so had to peek around the corner until Katie went over with a rug that he could walk on to the rug in the living room. Jim made it his mission to lure Sunny the dog onto the tile floor and show him that he wouldn't fall down. I think some headway was made, but how Sunny felt digestive wise the next day we don't want to know.

Antique Mile

Tamara, Jim and I did some antique shopping on Wednesday afternoon while Laura and family visited friends. One of my favorite spots is an antique mall on 4th Street that has a funky little house out back with retro items, 70's or so. Strangely enough, none of it ever seems to sell but it is always fun to see if there is anything new in the collection.

A Second Christmas

Time to open more presents! We had to wait for Tamara to arrive and then we were off to the races. Quinn's big present was a metal detector although he really cleaned up also with additions to his coin collection. As we told Campbell, the older you get the fewer the presents. He is at the age that "cold hard cash" is appreciated so he doesn't have to act enthusiastic over something dorky picked out by his granny.
