Valentine's Day in Flora-Bama

Our Rapid City neighbors, Gary and Deanna Vollmer, invited us to see their apartment that they share with their friends Chris and Bob Larson. They have a two bedroom apartment in a building that fronts right on the beach. Deanna and Chris walk long distances on the beach every day, come sunshine or rain. They are just down the road from The Hangout, a place that I would be walking to every day. Today we had some very tasty Bloody Marys in the "hootch" before sliding on over to have a fabulous lunch at The Hangout. A few hours later we headed back home, stopping to walk on the beach on the way. Today the clouds finally cleared off but the air temperature was in the chilly range. With the sun shining and coats, we had a slightly brisk but pleasant stroll. Thrillingly, a stately great blue heron was watching over its kingdom, and he/she was very patient while I walked around getting lots of photos to find just the right angle. Many treasures of the sea had washed up to the strand line. For the most part we believe in snapping them but not keeping them. In the past I've come home with shells that became very very stinky.
