Now that we have recovered from the shock of the traffic jam that led us onto the island, we have decided that we quite like it here. The Red Coconut may have be a little stingy with their RV space, but the park is quiet and clean with friendly and lively people. Today I took the island tour on the trolley, including riding over the bridge (a breeze) and returning (excruciating). I identified several activities for which we can use the trolley for transportation. We have rented a car for Monday through Wednesday of next week (and will get off the island early in the morning and return in the evening) so Sanibel is back in the plans, plus the Edison and Ford Winter Estates in Ft. Myers.
After breakfast at Heidi's, we met the sweet man selling bird houses from his front yard just inside our park. His wife had just painted this little Florida pastel house, and I promptly bought it. Our lunch after my long trolley ride was at the beach bar across the road. We like these convenient eating places!
We met our neighbors, an interesting and personable couple, Mario and Sylvia, from New Brunswick. They are French and are in the last week of a three week stay here. I walked over to the beach with them to listen to a little band from the beach side of the park perform. A fire was lit and there was no doubt quite a party on the beach to follow. Once I managed to get my sunset shots, though, I came back to the trailer for our soup supper (thanks, Tam!). A little stroll around the park and it is time for sleep.
