A few sunrise photos on the west coast seemed to be in order so it was an alarm clock morning and a walk on the beach for me. We packed up early and drove to Sanibel with the intention of going to the farmers' market that had been recommended by the lady in the Periwinkle's office. We really couldn't miss it because, once again, we were in a long line of traffic to get up the two lane island road. Lot A was full, Lot B was full, Lot C was full, on to the Overflow lot where by some miracle we had sufficient space to park the motor home. Only a short pleasant walk away, we found the Farmers' Market where we bought fruits, vegetables, a tiny cake costing $5 (but who could resist the sweet lady in orange selling them?), freshly baked bread, and roasted meats.
Back down the road, we fumbled our way into Periwinkle Park and set up our camper. This is a lovely shaded spot with plenty of space to spread out. We South Dakotans seem to need that. The beach is a half mile walk away so we will be getting our exercise. More importantly, this is a BIKE island. Beautiful paved and wide bike/walking paths crisscross the island. Later today we will walk over to the bike rental place and pick up bikes for the week. This is just the beginning.
