Several days ago we noticed this tall sailing ship at anchor in our marina. Then we saw a flyer saying that she was open on weekends for public viewing and a public sailing in the afternoons. Jim became seasick at the thought and I got out my iPad and signed right up. The Lady Washington is a replica of the first U.S. ship to visit the west coast in the early 1700's. See my photo of the sign for more information (my cheat sheet).
The ship is usually docked in Aberdeen, Washington, but travels down to California in the winter. During the week she takes school children on field trip sails.
We had a beautiful sail. Also the crew fired the little cannon twice. Small but loud!

What a beautiful day! The small and loud cannon makes me think that the poor guys on the ships in the old days must have been deaf!
