The Lady Washington carries a crew of about fifteen. That young lady with the tiny ponytail is the ship's cook. Hands live and eat on board ship under crowded and spartan conditions. For $500 you can sign up for two weeks and learn how to be a deckhand. Everyone also participates in maintaining the ship. All in all, it is hard physical labor but they seem to truly love it.
The distinguished looking gentleman in the round sunglasses is the Captain's Mate. He calls out all the orders for operating the sails;he also gave us the story about the history of both the original ship and this replica. Our Captain is the bearded gentleman in the checked shirt.
