Jacksonville has a shining new, blue and silver airport. I had a quick trip over from ABQ (it had taken me all day to get from Ft. Myers to St. Louis to Dallas to ABQ last week). Jim waited for my call in the cell phone lot where he noticed a sign by Daktronics, a South Dakota company. From JAX it was about an hour drive to our campground that is just a few miles out of St. Augustine. North Beach Campground is a little on the vintage side, what we like to think of as "Old Florida". Rustic. Campsites are nestled into foliage-fenced areas, something that I like very much. We are in our idea of ideally located--next door to the bathrooms/showers and within walking distance of not one but two good restaurants. Have I mentioned anywhere in this blog that I don't cook? Well, I don't, so eating places are always in our sights when we set up camp.
When you walk a little ways down the road and to the east, you are at The Reef, an establishment overlooking the Atlantic Ocean beach. To the west there is a more rustic restaurant, Aunt Kate's, where Jim has been keeping himself going. Last night we dined at The Reef. Finally, we have reached the Atlantic Ocean and Going Coastal has come true!
Today we will begin to explore St. Augustine.
